The West Wind Project consists of a series of objects which contain moving parts. The pieces which make up this project combine different interests I have been developing. They start from the pure pleasure of drawing.
They all begin with a dot marked on the paper: the minimum expression of drawing which unfolds from there. Starting with simple shapes, the drawing changes, exploring different alternatives. After the shape of the drawing has been selected, the phase of the conversion of the drawing into a physical object begins. But the process does not end with the constructed object; instead, it inspires new designs which, in turn, become new objects, thereby constituting a circular process.
In the words of R. Serra, “work comes from work”. In other words, none of these works is a definitive work or exhausts the original idea. Each and every one of the designs based on this idea could in turn direct the Project towards other designs and other different works. None of them, neither the first one nor the last one, completes the work or excludes different lines of study. The need to put a limit on the development of each piece of the project does not, therefore, exhaust the possibilities of continuing to grow and take on other forms, both on paper and in space. The dot on the paper is the beginning ... the end ...
El West Wind Project se compone de una serie de objetos que contienen piezas móviles. Las piezas que conforman este proyecto aúnan diversos intereses que he venido desarrollando. Parten del puro placer de dibujar.
El inicio de todas ellas es un punto marcado sobre el papel: la expresión mínima del dibujo, que se va desarrollando desde ahí. Partiendo de formas simples, el dibujo va variando, explorando distintas alternativas. Una vez elegida la forma del dibujo, viene la fase de conversión del dibujo en un objeto físico. Pero el proceso no termina en el objeto construido, sino que éste inspira nuevos dibujos que se convertirán a su vez en nuevos objetos; constituyendo, por lo tanto, un proceso circular.
En palabras de R. Serra: “el trabajo proviene del trabajo”. Es decir, ninguna de estas obras es una obra definitiva, ni agota la idea original. Todos y cada uno de los diseños que parten de esa idea podrían dirigir a su vez el proyecto hacia otros diseños y otras obras diferentes. Ninguno de ellos, ni el primero ni el último, culmina el trabajo ni excluye diferentes vías de estudio. La necesidad de poner un límite en el desarrollo de cada pieza del proyecto no agota por tanto las posibilidades de seguir creciendo y tomando otras formas tanto en el papel como en el espacio. El punto en el papel es el inicio… el final…

Marrazteko plazer hutsetik abiatzen dira. Horien guztien abiapuntua paperean bertan adierazitako puntu bat da: marrazkiaren gutxieneko adierazpena, hortik garatzen joaten dena. Forma soiletatik abiatuz, ma- rrazkia aldatzen joaten da, beste aukera batzuk aztertuz. Marrazkiaren forma au- keratuta, marrazkia objektu fisiko bihurtze- ko fasea dator. Baina prozesua ez da amaitzen eraikitako objektuan; beste objektu batzuk bihurtuko diren beste marrazki batzuetan oinarritzen da, beraz, prozesu zirkularra da.
R. Serrak adierazi duen moduan: “lana, lanetik dator”. Hau da, ez dago behin betiko lanik hauen artean, eta ez du agortzen jatorrizko ideia. Ideia horretatik abiatzen diren diseinu ho- rietako bakoitzak beste diseinu eta bestela- ko lanetara zuzendu ahalko du proiektua. Ez lehen proiektuak ez azkenak ez dute lana amaitzen, ez eta bestelako azterbideak baztertu ere. Proiektuaren pieza bakoitzaren garapenean muga bat jartzeko beharrak, beraz, ez ditu agortzen hazten eta paperean nahiz es- pazioan bestelako moduak hartzen jarraitze- ko aukerak- Paperean dagoen puntua da abiapuntua...eta amaiera...
